How do I preview in After Effects?
Media that has been imported into a project is often called footage. You can preview footage by using the Footage panel, which is one of the panels hidden by default. You can easily display the Footage panel by choosing Window > Footage: (none).
The play button in After Effects, and other playback controls, are in the Preview panel. In the Default and Standard workspaces, you can find the Preview panel docked in the column of panels along the right side (underneath the Info and Audio panels).
How do you play audio and video in After Effects?
To hear the audio you need to do a RAM preview. For a RAM preview, you need to click the rightmost symbol in the Preview panel. Alternatively, hit the 0 key on your number pad. A RAM preview first renders your clip into memory and then plays it back.
Why is my After Effects preview so slow?
One of the biggest causes of stutter and lag when using After Effects is having a lot of compositions and layers. This combined with the use of effects and 3D camera work can seriously slow down your compositions and render times.
Why does after effects keep freezing?

Why can’t I hear audio in After Effects 2020?

Why does my audio sound weird on after effects?
The main reason for the audio distortion is that After effects offers a RAM preview and this depends on the amount of RAM that you have in the machine. If the files are heavy and RAM is less then the audio and video can buffer. This does not effect the end output. After Effects is a compositing software.
Why does after effects only show 30 seconds?
Your timeline only goes to 30 seconds. It appears you’re also rendering at half resolution which means your video will be the wrong size. Go into your composition settings and change the length from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then make sure you drag your work area out to the full length of the composition.
